Over the years there have been many variations of hydrogen generators using aluminium and water as source materials. many are basic using a base or acid to break down the aluminium. The featured technology form Energy Renaissance uses an electrical charge to break down the aluminium in the water to for hydrogen.
In the past the economics has not favored using aluminium to generate hydrogen, however using scrap can make it economical. I am not sure their savings claims hold up. Another question is the environmental economics. It takes a large amount of electricity to produce aluminium. If renewable energy is used then this is not an issue.
The word renaissance is most appropriate here as the technology, and many of the people are from the former Solar Hydrogen Trends Inc.
You can read up on our past stories on them where they once claimed overunity. At least this time no overunity is claimed, but I would question the savings claimed.
I am sure there is a market for this and wish them well.
